Welcome to Chico, California.
A city of northern California northwest of Oroville. It is a processing and packing center in an almond-growing region. Population: 67,500. Olives, kiwi fruit, grain, and nursery stock are also grown, and cattle are raised. Principal manufactures are processed foods, aircraft parts, and beer.
California State Univ. Chico is there. Lassen Volcanic National Park is nearby. Chico is home to California State University, Chico.

Chico California Attractions
Bidwell Mansion State Historical Park: Beautiful Bidwell Mansion was the home of John and Annie Bidwell, Chico's founders. Many famous historical figures have been guests at this restored Italian-style mansion located adjacent to Chico State University in downtown Chico.
Bidwell Park: The second largest municipal park in the country (after Central Park, NY): 3,750 acres of land along the banks of Big Chico Creek. The creek rushes down from the Sierra Nevada before it runs through several miles of Bidwell Park. The park contains an 18-hole golf course, baseball fields, swimming holes, and a children's playground, plus roads and trails for jogging, hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding.
Butte College: Butte College is a fully accredited, two-year community college serving Butte and Glenn counties. The 940-acre campus located south of Chico is the largest in California and one of the most attractive. Nearly 13,000 students enroll each semester.
Butte County Pioneer Museum: The museum's treasures include Chinese artifacts, the grand old clock from Bidwell Bar, a large Native American basket and arrowhead collection, a needle made from a gold nugget, a hat collection, and 49'er relics. Located on Montgomery Street in Oroville.
California State University, Chico: CSU, Chico, located in a beautiful arboretum setting along Big Chico Creek, is a four-year university serving 15,000 students. The university boasts a distinguished faculty of 800 that includes award-winning scholars, artists, and researchers in almost every major field of study.
Chico Art Center: Located in the renovated old Chico railroad depot, the Chico Art Center has ongoing visual art displays featuring California artists.
Chico Creek Nature Center: Chico Creek Nature Center is the interpretive center for Bidwell Park.
Downtown Chico City Plaza: Designated as a park site in 1872, the plaza is a favorite place for lunch and people watching. In the summer the gazebo serves as a stage for free musical concerts on Friday evenings.
Farmer's Market: The Farmer's Market, a long-time Chico tradition, features fresh fruit, produce, flowers and more year-round.
Gold Nugget Museum: Learn about the early history of Paradise at this fascinating museum featuring dolls, minerals, guns, mining artifacts, and a Native American exhibit.
Honey Run Covered Bridge: One of the few covered bridges left in California and the only tri-span bridge in the United States, Honey Run Covered Bridge is located in beautiful Butte Creek Canyon just outside of Chico.
Orient & Flume Art Glass Studio: Tours are available to view the world-famous Orient and Flume glass artwork being created.
Sierra Nevada Brewing Company: Sample the brewery's award-winning ales and enjoy fine dining in Sierra Nevada's taproom and restaurant.
Silver Dollar Fairgrounds & Speedway: Events featured most months, including dirt track racing and the Silver Dollar Fair.
Stansbury House: Built in 1883, the Stansbury House is a classic example of Italianate Victorian architecture. Located on the corner of Fifth and Salem streets, this historic house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Local daily news in Chico: First Avenue "bulbing" topic of Chico committee meeting Tuesday
Although temporary intersection "bulbing" at East First and Oleander Avenues was expected to be in place until late spring, a report to the Internal Affairs Committee indicates the traffic barriers will be removed by the end of the month.

DA says Chico councilors could face jail over pot dispensaries
Weighing in on the Chico City Council's Tuesday decision to begin drafting a zoning ordinance for medical marijuana dispensaries, Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey warned that the council is walking a fine line between legal and illegal action.
